This department is in NRI CH, OP No-6. Daily 70-90 patients attend to OPD. Monthly around 60-80 operations are being done. We perform Cataract Surgeries with Intra ocular lens implantation, Antiglaucoma surgeries & Oculoplastic surgeries.The Ophtalmology department is actively taking part in community Eye Health Services. NRI General Hospital is a recognized hospital by W.H.O sponsored vision 2020 program of Government of India.

Under this program our department is coordinating and working together with Community Medicine Department of NRI Medical College, in conducting Free Eye Screening Camps and School Health Programs for children (for Screening Cataracts for IOL Implantation Surgery) in rural and tribal under served areas of Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh.

Under this program we conduct 2-3 Free Eye Screening Camps in a month in which roughly 1000 – 1500 people are screened for various Eye diseases. Roughly 100 – 150 free Small Incision Cataract Surgeries with Intraocular Lens Implantation are performed in a month.Under graduate students (MBBS) teaching consists of theory classes,Clinical demonstrations and the students are also taken to the operation theaters to observe the surgeries.
